Fa la la la la....

It will come as no surprise that I love Christmas music. My favourites of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas", Andy Williams' "It's the most wonderful time of the year", and Johnny Mathis' "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" are the most played songs on my iPod. Christmas songs evoke many childhood memories, for instance Elvis' "When a child is born" - sitting with mum recording songs to tape from the radio, trying pause at the right time to cut the DJ. Paul McCartney's "We all stand together" (the frog song) - watching the video on Top of the Pops at my mum's cousins on Christmas Eve and so on.

Thanks Wiki
We don't get many new Christmas songs now, which is a shame, but then the Christmas number 1 spot usually goes to the X Factor winner anyway.
Then there are the carols. I am in no way religious, I don't sing along with hymns or carols, yet I love to hear carols. Memories of school plays, of carol singing round the village Christmas tree on Christmas Eve and of hearing my gran singing while shepherds watched, even she would sometimes change it to wash...

  1. I've got that Bing Crosby album! My favorite of his is the duet with David Bowie - Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy

  2. Oh I heard that over the weekend!
I am loving Gareth Malone & the Military wives song this Christmas but I agree, not much new about.

  3. I don't have that Bing album. Really should get it. I love the duet too. Miriam, haven't heard the military wives song, bound to make me cry though so best I don't...
